The Conservatorship Begins
Following her highly publicized breakdown in 2007, Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, and attorney Andrew Wallet established a conservatorship in 2008, giving them control over her finances and personal affairs. This arrangement included managing her investments, paying bills, deciding on her medical care, and even controlling her personal relationships.
In the years that followed, the conservatorship remained in place, with Jamie and others continuing to make decisions on Britney’s behalf. This arrangement was initially seen as a temporary measure to help Britney get back on her feet, but it soon became clear that it would be a long-term arrangement.
