Ben - July 1, 2022

Everyone needs a bit of comedy in their life to help get them through times. A few hours of laugh can help make life a bit more enjoyable. Here are 6 of the funniest films of all-time.

Home Alone (1990)

You can’t deny that this is a classic kid’s film, but adults also love it. Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) does a great job as the kid hero defending his home from the wet bandits, Marv (Daniel Stern) and Harry (Joe Pesci). Their comedic timing was amazing and really made kids love watching the film due to their random antics.

Trading Places (1983)

Winthorpe (Dan Aykroyd) and Valentine (Eddie Murphy) play great comedic roles as they end up switching lives stemming from an experiment the Duke Brothers bet $1 on. At the end of the day, Winthorpe and Valentine outsmarted them in a hilarious but a deserved way as they got rich while the Duke Brothers quickly fell down into the poor house. They shortened the Duke Brothers’ stock and bet the same amount – S1.

My Cousin Vinny (1992)

This awesome performance by Joe Pesci as Vinny Gambini and his witty girlfriend, Mona Lisa Vito (Marisa Tomei) showed some fun and a unique take on defending in the courtroom. He bailed out his cousin despite never trying a case in court with his slick New York talk in a rural Alabama environment.

Coming to America (1988)

Here’s an all-star cast of black actors in one of the top-notch comedic films of all-time. Eddie Murphy is in his prime playing multiple characters including the Prince Akeem of Zamunda. What his father, King Jaffe Joffer says is a trip for Akeem to sow his royal oats unknowingly become Akeem’s ticket to finding his queen in all places, Queens, New York. Arsenio Hall also plays a great role as Semmi – his personal servant and friend.

American Pie (1999)

This coming-of-age film is a classic case of teenagers trying to get to manhood before they all go off to college. It’s a hilarious film with each friend getting into teenage antics. However, Jim Levenstein (played by Jason Biggs) gets into a lot of mischievous acts to find that one girl to help him out.

Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Robin Williams plays a dual role as both Daniel Hillard and Mrs. Doubtfire. Daniel Hillard is a guy down on his last bit of luck as he quits his daily job as a voiceover due to creative differences. He throws his youngest daughter a wild party that ultimately is the breaking point in the marriage. The crummy divorce and child visitation led him to create a character, Mrs. Doubtfire, who is a nanny. Ironically, the mother (played by Sally Field) is looking for a nanny to help take care of the three children. It’s a hilarious back and forth character flow between Daniel and Mrs. Doubtfire that has the audience yearning for more.
