Ben - July 1, 2022

Certain 3-D movies out there can feel a bit cheap or just distasteful that it looks out of place. However, the right visual effects can take the movie experience to the next level. Here some top 5 3-D movies.

Avatar (2009)

This is by far one of the most timeless 3-D movies that ever came out. It was 10 steps ahead of any 3-D film that came out, and the second highest-grossing film of all-time. When it comes to visual effects, this is one that you can study and draw inspiration from.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Marvel really stepped it up with the 3-D effects of this amazing superhero movie. By combining different elements, great action, and a storyline that made people see it multiple times, this movie was an experience for many that are unmatched. I mean, you can’t beat all of your favorite Marvel heroes rolled up in one film. Not to mention, it’s the 3rd highest-grossing film ever.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

The elements of going back in time to seeing the future brought a certain dynamic when Wolverine was the one who could stand the process because of his enhanced healing prowess brought on by his mutant ability. It made for a great story plot that makes it one of the best X-Men movies of the 2010s.

Tron: Legacy (2010)

This sequel of the 1982 film really stepped things up with the virtual reality features to make it a nice update to the original. We’ll see if they take it up another notch in the next couple of years with the pending release of “Tron: Ares.”

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Even though this movie went through serious development hell, it still ended up being worthwhile labor of love over a decade. The last film prior to Mad Max: Fury Road came out in 1985. It was long overdue, but the reboot has sparked an interest in the post-apocalyptic setting that you don’t see very often in films. Great effects, action, and a cool back story add a lot of character to the film.
