The translation from Sahaptin means “river which comes from canyons or the robe of a rainbow.” It is also the common name of the Wenatchee River, Lake Wenatchee, and Wenatchee National Forest. Wenatchee is also famously the apple capital of the world because there are many apple orchards in its valleys. There is also a hydroelectric dam.
