Taking Leftovers Home from Restaurants
Due to the generous portion sizes in America, it is quite common to have leftover food after a meal, resulting in the popular practice of requesting “doggy bags” to take home the remaining food. To be fair, this is a custom that should be commended because people aren’t wasting food that is left on their plates.
In other countries, inquiring about taking leftovers to go may elicit a quizzical response, as it is not a customary request they often encounter. In numerous European restaurants, such a query might even be considered impolite or inappropriate.
